Step by step guide to installation
.Mark out the area that needs to be covered with SoftLawn.
.Use the grass cutter to remove the turf, so you are left with a soil base.
.Where there are no boundary markings like an edge or a wall a boundary of timber battens and stakes must be put into place. The stakes must be driven into the ground and channels dug for the battens and the fixed to the stakes creating a boundary.
.The ground must then be prepared by removing any large undulations, large stones and roots.
.Now the area has been levelled, weed barriers should be installed covering the whole area. This should be laid and fixed down with galvanised nails.
.On top now goes up to a maximum of 15mm of either sharp sand or damp grano dust. If the dust is a little dry sprinkle it with water because this will help when it comes to be compacted.
.The top layer can now be levelled out by using a levelling bar and landscaping rakes which helps drag the dust into dips creating a flat surface. |

.When the top layer is levelled the plate compacter must be run over the surfaces until the ground is solid. The trowel can then be used to clean up any marks left by the plate compacter.
.The area can now be measured and marked out every 2 or 4 metres.
.The SoftLawn can now be cut and laid out slightly overlapping. Once all the pieces are out and all the area is covered the joins can be cut so each piece fits tightly together ready to be seamed.
.Seaming tape then needs to be placed underneath the joins and the iron used along the tape so both pieces are bonded with the tape.
.Around the perimeter can now be cut so it is shaped to the boundary. All edges should then be pinned using galvanised securing the SoftLawn firmly down.
.The fibres can then be brushed up using a stiff brush or power broom. Then using the drop spreader evenly distribute kiln dried sand over the surface and brushed in. |
